Tea Tree Gully Youth Centre

Inspiring youth in the community

‘Hive’ was a new initiative of the City of Tea Tree Gully, providing a centre for the ongoing education and development of young people in the district. The 1000m2 space, fitout by SHAPE, was created to reflect the industrial nature of the building, creating a raw, utilitarian environment, whilst still being welcoming, approachable and fun.

The aim of this initiative was to deliver a facility specifically designed for the local youth to use. This is a new model developed by the Council for this facility, breaking new ground in education and training and support for young people.

This project had a strict budget, with extensive value management reducing the initial budget by almost $200,000. SHAPE had to abide by a tight programme, as the date of the community’s grand opening was already set. Given that this facility had been promised to the community for some time, it was vital that the deadline was met and the community opening took place on the scheduled date.

During the tender and pre-construction phases SHAPE were professional, committed and expert in assisting to bring our vision to life and best of all, on time.”
